Kanye West took a reporter's phone after a clearly triggering question about his wife Bianca Censori having any "free will".
It of course comes after Ye's strange snaps shared on his social media, showing his wife wearing close to nothing as fans called the behavior controlling. But the questions were finally but to the Bound 2 rapper as he headed to support pal Charlie Wilson while he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday.
Snappers followed the musician as they filmed him walking with his entire body and face covered, an outfit he's worn before. Insiders had previously reported that Kanye was preventing his wife from using social media, to protect her from negative comments.
Asked about the topic, one journalist from TMZ probed, "Hey Kanye, how are you doing? It's good to see you. People want to know if Bianca has her free will, some people are saying you're controlling her." The comment did not go down well with Ye who is seen in footage looking directly at the reporter before snatching the smartphone out of her hand.
"Don't come asking me that dumb-a** s***," he said. "I'm a person, bro." Ye asked the reporter why they'd ask "some dumb-a** disrespectful questions about my wife". Conversation quickly turned to his children shared with ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
"You got questions for that, or are you part of the system? Do you understand what I'm saying? Do you understand what I'm saying? Was it wrong for you to ask me about my wife, some dumba**, disrespectful sh*** like that, was that wrong or right?"
The journalist is seen in another angle asking Kanye for her phone back before the rapper says, "Answer the question - I'm supposed to answer your questions - answer my questions. I got your phone now: They're gonna arrest me for taking your phone, arrest me for taking your phone then." He then calls himself a "grown-a** superhero".
Ye then calls himself "a legend" before turning back to the reporter and asks again about the "dumb-a** disrespectful question". Event employees are seen scrambling, asking the TMZ reporter to leave without her phone before Kanye turns and asks, "Do you wanna work for me instead? Oh, now you're smiling ... get her contacts."
Providing analysis on the ordeal, body language Judi James said Ye demonstrated "counter-intuitive behavior". She says the reporter "adopts a submissive body language pose, stuffing her hands into her pockets, lowering her head and sucking her lips in, pleading in a voice that gets increasingly high and childlike for her phone to be returned".
