Dakota Johnson's comedic prowess was recently seen when she returned to SNL as host after nearly a decade. She was hilarious per usual but in classic Dakota Johnson fashion, she wasn't afraid to be bold. And she cracked a cheeky joke involving Taylor Swift and Donald Trump.
The last time Dakota Johnson hosted Saturday Night Live was when the show was celebrating its 40th anniversary. On that special evening, many big names in the entertainment industry sat in the audience. Johnson, having been shot to fame after 50 Shades of Grey, found herself hosting the historical evening. She referenced this very evening in her SNL monologue this past Saturday.
Showing an image of herself from 2015, standing in the audience, Johnson reminisces on the bygone days and comments about the people she is surrounded by. As the camera zooms on Donald Trump during her SNL monologue, she says:
“Look at this collection of people: Sarah Palin, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and look who's sitting right behind me.”
Trump went on to become President of the United States in the 2016 elections. The How to Be Single actress further says:
“It's just crazy to be standing so close to someone who would become the most powerful person in America.”
Here's when the camera shifts from Trump to Taylor Swift sitting a row ahead of where Johnson is standing. And the audience is left stitched by the implication of Swift being more powerful than a US President. Although it isn't exactly that big an exaggeration considering the Bad Blood singer 's popularity of her.
