Prince Harry was reportedly "in deep shock" after receiving a six-word email response from his aunt, Princess Anne, after he dug up and mocked her past lawsuit.
Harry, who is currently living in the United States with his wife Meghan Markle, is expected to return to London next week as a witness in the trial brought against the Mirror Group Newspapers by the Prince and other high-profile figures over alleged unlawful information gathering. , including phone hacking.
Anne, who is known for her no-nonsense attitude, was forced to appear in court back in 2002 after pleading guilty to a charge under the Dangerous Dogs Act after her pet dog attacked two children.
The incident caused a scandal at the time and led to calls for Anne to be stripped of her royal titles. However, she was eventually allowed to keep her titles and was fined £500.
Harry's decision to dig up and mock Anne's past lawsuit is said to have caused a great deal of anger within the royal family. Anne is reportedly "incensed" by Harry's recent conduct and is said to be "holding back" from expressing her true feelings.
Jenny Bond, an authoritative voice on royal affairs, spoke to OK magazine about the mounting tension between Harry and Anne. Bond described Anne as a "direct and candid individual" much like her late mother, Queen Elizabeth, who was renowned for her ability to compartmentalize information.
Despite being reportedly furious with Harry, Bond believes that Anne will still hold a bond with her nephew.
"Anne is a very forgiving person," Bond said. "She may be angry with Harry at the moment, but I'm sure she will eventually forgive him."
It remains to be seen how Harry will respond to Anne's six-word email. However, it is clear that the incident has caused a great deal of tension within the royal family.
