How did the Nazis murder Anne Frank? Her life in the Secret Annex and painful death.

Anne Frank, one of the most poignant figures of the Holocaust, was a Jewish girl who, along with her family, went into hiding in **Amsterdam** to avoid Nazi persecution. Her life in the **Secret Annex**, a hidden attic space in her father’s business building, was a period marked by fear, hope, and the development of her extraordinary diary, where she documented her thoughts, experiences, and the harsh realities of living under the Nazi regime.

Anne Frank’s life in hiding began in **July 1942**, when her family went into seclusion. They were soon joined by another Jewish family, the Van Pels, and later, dentist **Fritz Pfeffer**. During these two years of concealment, Anne and the others lived in constant fear of discovery. Despite the difficult circumstances—limited food, cramped living conditions, and the constant stress of living under the threat of being caught—Anne’s diary reveals her remarkable resilience, maturity, and desire for a future beyond the walls of the Annex.

In **August 1944**, the Frank family’s hiding place was betrayed to the Nazis, likely by an informant. The family was arrested and sent to the **Westerbork transit camp**, and from there, Anne and her sister **Margot** were eventually deported to **Auschwitz**. Later, they were transferred to **Bergen-Belsen concentration camp** in **Germany**, where they faced even worse conditions.

Anne Frank’s life came to a tragic end in **early March 1945**, just weeks before the liberation of Bergen-Belsen by British forces. She died of **typhus**, a disease that spread rapidly in the overcrowded and unsanitary conditions of the camp. Anne was just 15 years old. Her death, like the deaths of millions of others, was a result of the cruelty and systematic extermination orchestrated by the Nazis.

Though Anne Frank was taken from the world far too young, her diary remains a testament to her spirit, and it continues to educate and inspire people worldwide about the horrors of the Holocaust.
