Anti-Trump political action committee the Lincoln Project has released a parody video of the president's balcony entrance over Don't Cry for Me Argentina from the musical Evita.
Trump televised his return to the White House on Monday, descending from his Marine One helicopter wearing a white surgical mask only to remove it as he posed, saluting and waving, on the mansion's South Portico.
The one-and-a-half minute clip published by the anti-Trump coalition starts by showing segments of the president's return, accompanied with a backing track of Don't Cry for Me Argentina from Evita - with some modified words.
'Don't cry for me White House staffers,' the lyrics read. 'The truth is I will infect you. '[...]Don't cry for me Secret Service, though Covid might just kill you.'
While on my joyride,' the lyrics go on. 'I spread the virus. I broke my promise, won't keep my distance.'
The clip is also interspersed with footage of White House staffers hugging and failing to social distance, as well as a still image of Trump's Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, who tested positive for the virus on Monday.
At least two of Donald Trump's Secret Service details were facing 14 days of isolation on Monday after traveling with the president during the motorcade stunt, which is cut into the video.
