And in the course of history there were queens who knew how to take advantage of their position to generate important changes and proved to the world that anything is possible.

1. Pharaoh Hatshepsut


The fifth pharaoh, Hatshepsut, ruled alongside her stepson Thutmose III, and she managed to leave her mark on history when she created new trade routes, developing new plant species in Egyptian territory and controlling appropriateness of foreign policies. This is why different archaeologists consider her one of the most influential rulers of the time.



2. Empress Wu Zetian


Zetain was the only empress to rule China in 4 millennia as part of the Tang Dynasty, and later the Zhou. After the death of Emperor Gaozong and her being his concubine, she rose to manage the court, obtaining a fairly equal title and at the level of an “emperor”. Among the great achievements that she achieved are her expansion to Central China and an important contribution in different aspects to education, Buddhism and literature.


3. Ana de Sousa Nzinga Mbande



After the suicide of her brother, the king, Ana ascended the throne, becoming Queen of Ndongo and Matamba (nowadays Angola). Being an intelligent woman she became fully involved in the politics, military thoughts and diplomacy of her country, managing to keep the Portuguese colonies in control during her reign.
