During the pregame warmup before the AFC divisional playoff game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens, a video went viral showing Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce throwing the helmet of Ravens kicker Justin Tucker. The incident sparked a lot of debate and speculation, with some people accusing Kelce of being disrespectful.
However, Kelce has since revealed that there was more to the story than meets the eye. In an interview with teammate Jason Kelce (no relation), Travis Kelce explained that he and Tucker were actually just having some fun and that the helmet toss was all in good nature.
"Me and Tuck, we go back a long way," Travis Kelce said. "We've competed against each other since college, and we've always had a lot of respect for each other. But we also like to bust each other's chops a little bit."
Kelce went on to explain that he and Tucker were joking around before the game when Tucker's helmet accidentally rolled over to Kelce's feet. Kelce said he instinctively picked up the helmet and threw it back to Tucker, but he threw it a little too hard and it went over Tucker's head.
