Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been branded "insensitive" after posing with Jamaica's Prime Minister, despite his previous brutal four-word warning to Prince William. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance last night at the Jamaican screening of Bob Marley: One Love.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex posed alongside Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness, who has previously shared his plans to make Jamaica a republic. This has led social media users to brand the royal couple "insensitive" due to Holness' brutal conversation with Prince William in 2022.
During William's and the Princess of Wales's tour of the Caribbean in 2022, Mr. Holness brutally told the pair his plans. He shockingly confronted the couple to tell them Jamaica "we are moving on" and intend to live "as an independent, developed, prosperous country".
Holness, who has a referendum set to be held later this year, has previously admitted that the Caribbean island wanted to cut ties with Britain after Queen Elizabeth II died.
The Independent reported at the time that Jamaica "has already begun" its process to remove Queen Elizabeth as its head of state as it continues its push to become a republic.
Holness told Loop Jamaica News of his plans last year: "There is no question that Jamaica has to become a republic.
