After Kate Middleton was admitted to hospital last week for abdominal surgery, Prince William made sure he had a firm plan in place to support her.
The heir cleared his royal diary of official visits and meetings and has temporarily stepped back from his senior royal role as the Prince of Wales while his wife recovers in hospital.
The 42-year-old Princess of Wales has now been in a private hospital for nine days and is expected to remain there for between 10 to 14 days in total. The future King has been seen visiting Kate at the London Clinic while he is also taking on full responsibility of looking after the couple's three kids Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five while their mother is recovering.
It came as the royal couple traveled to Wales and stopped to chat to well-wishers who had gathered outside at a market in Abergavenny.
Many fans had decided to brave the cold weather to catch a glimpse of the pair.
Despite the freezing weather, William made a rare personal comment about his wife of more than 12 years.
After shaking hands with one well-wisher, he pointed towards Kate and said: "She has the coldest hands ever. But they say 'cold hands, warm heart'."
Kate is said not to be returning to her official duties until after Easter following her serious surgery meaning she will not be meeting with anymore well-wishers anytime soon.
A royal source told The Sunday Times the pair have switched to "100 percent family first, day job second".
Palace aides have said that the Princess of Wales will be out of sight over the next few months but is likely to still be working behind the scenes.
