Prince William and Kate are said to be looking forward to "one key thing" following her lengthy recovery from surgery.
On January 17, Kensington Palace shocked royal watchers by announcing the Princess of Wales had undergone successful abdominal surgery. They never specified what the surgery was for, instead confirming it wasn't cancer, and that the senior royal wished to keep information on her health private.
She spent 13 days in hospital recovering, as William paused any royal engagements to make sure he could be there for his children and her throughout. Yesterday, Kate returned home to Adelaide Cottage, in Windsor, where she will continue her recovery - and is expected to be out of public royal engagements until at least Easter.
One former royal butler has said that there will be one key thing the couple are looking forward to, following Kate's recovery. Grant Harrold, who served Charles for seven years during his lengthy time as Prince of Wales, said Kate's return would be great for the family as she would have left a "void".
He continued: "The sooner her recovery, I'm sure the sooner the pair will get back to carrying out their royal duties together, which is something that I think they enjoy. I think they'll be keen to get back to normal with it. There won't be a huge team there on hand. It'll be her husband who'll mainly be doing that, helping her to get back onto her feet."
He added that the couple enjoyed working together in royal engagements. A statement from Kensington Palace yesterday said: "The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress. The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic. , especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided. The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world."
