A Royal writer has claimed that King Charles III considers his youngest brother Prince Edward as a "minor royal", according to a report in Express. Prince Edward was granted the title of Duke of Edinburgh by Prince Philip, their late father, expecting that King Charles III would bestow the title after the queen's demise. But King Charles III is resisting the calls to grant Edward the title.
According to Daily Mail Editor At Large and Royal expert, Richard Kay, King Charles III treats Prince Edward as a minor royal. As Charles fears that bestowing the title to Edward, Earl of Wessex at present, might disappear, thus he looks forward to keeping the title.
Further, the writer added, "Edinburgh is the substantial capital city of the four countries of the UK, and Wessex is a nearly non-existent city."
"Though, Charles has a completely different view of the Palace. According to him, Edinburgh is a meaningful title to be passed to a minor royal member as it would disappear in the inheritance. Thus, Charles wants control over the title."
It might raise frustration in the viewers as one of them wrote in the Palace confidential that it is dishonorable towards Prince Philip to deny his wish.
There were claims that it might bring backlash and public outcry against Charles if he refused to bestow the title.
Richard Eden, Daily Mail's Editor, warns that the move on behalf of Charles might be a big mistake. He added that being regarded as a minor royal was very upsetting for Edward.
