She has never been shy about speaking exactly what's on her mind.
But Jennifer Lawrence had talk show host David Letterman nearly lost for words during an appearance on Wednesday night.
The 23-year-old actress went into intimate detail when asked by Letterman about the medical problems which caused her to cancel her morning appearances to promote the new Hunger Games film. I just had this really bad pain for, like, three weeks,' she told the presenter. 'And you know you can only s**t your pants so many times a day before you go to the emergency room, before you're like "I need to go to the hospital."
Earlier reports suggested that Jennifer received medical attention for 'severe stomach pain' prior to walking the red carpet at Monday's Catching Fire premiere.
'I thought I had an ulcer, but it turns out it was a "fulcer", she said. 'I went to the emergency room.'
A clearly amused Letterman quipped: 'It's like talking to Helen Hayes,' referring to the late stage actress and multiple award winner. Undeterred, Jennifer went into even more candid detail about the endoscopy she underwent at the hospital.
'I just did this thing yesterday called an endoscope-something, where they put you to sleep,' she declared.
'And the woman - it's pretty clear when you first meet me, I'm a freakin' head case and I'm crazy - so I'm in there like, "Ugh, what are these?! What do they mean?! What does that say?!'" Unable to relax before going under anaesthetic, Jennifer failed to try to think of something nice before she was put to sleep. 'The last thing I said was, "I'm paralysed!" she laughed.
The entertaining chat was interrupted by the still-recovering actress to snuggle up and keep warm under a pink floral duvet, joined by Letterman.
The star said that when she woke up, the nurse asked her if she had any dreams.
'I dreamed there was a nuclear bomb that went off,' she joked. 'And the first lucid conversation I remember having was about the Kardashians.
