The Carlyle Hotel in New York City refused to book the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, reportedly due to their rude behavior and late payment of bills in the past.
The hotel's general manager, Harry Cipriani, told Page Six that the Sussexes had been "guests of the hotel on a number of occasions" and that their behavior had been "disrespectful" to staff. He also said that the couple had a history of "late payment" of bills.
Cipriani said that the hotel had decided to "no longer welcome" the Sussexes as guests. He said that the decision was made "based on the behavior of the guests and their representatives in dealing with our staff."
The Sussexes' representatives have not commented on the hotel's decision.
This is not the first time that the Sussexes have been accused of rude behavior. In 2020, it was reported that they had been "demanding" and "difficult" to deal with during their stay at the Dorchester Hotel in London.
The Sussexes have also been accused of being late payers. In 2021, it was reported that they owed the British government £2.4 million in taxes.
The Carlyle Hotel's decision to refuse to book the Sussexes is a significant development. It is a rare occurrence for a hotel to refuse to book a celebrity guest, and it suggests that the Sussexes' behavior has become a problem.
It remains to be seen whether the Sussexes will be able to find a hotel that is willing to book them. If they cannot, it will be a sign that their reputation has been damaged.
