She’s one of the biggest models in the industry, with an instantly recognisable face adorning buildings, TV screens, magazine covers and numerous high-fashion campaigns.
With those brows that have spawned their own Instagram fan-base accounts and her quirky charismatic charm that garnered her a legion of adoring fans, Cara Delevingne has only ever presented as her most authentic self. So, when it was revealed that the star has psoriasis, she took the opportunity at the Met Gala to show it off.
Psoriasis is a skin disease that affects an estimated 2.5 per cent of the population here in Australia. Worldwide, it’s believed some 125 million people have psoriasis, according to the World Psoriasis Day consortium. The chronic inflammatory skin disease can occur on different parts of the body, to varying degrees, and can come and go in cycles lasting weeks or months. The condition is considered an incurable autoimmune disease that causes the body to send incorrect signals that speed up cell growth in affected areas. It’s most often identified as itchy, scaly patches on the skin, and the most common areas for psoriasis to occur are the knees, elbows or scalp.
